A Taste of A Scary Guy

Several years ago I invited Richard Owen Roberts to speak to our church regarding Repentance due to a book the men of the church had read called Repentance: The First Word of The Gospel .  The day he preached was a terrifying moment for several in the congregation for never had they heard the type of preaching style that Dr. Roberts employed.  He roamed up and down aisles, back and forth across the stage with a voice that boomed and an eye that pinned you to the seat.  My adult children still refer to him as that scary guy.  I loved him and had the blessing to get to know him just a bit.

He has the largest private library on revival and revivalism in the world and heads up a ministry related directly toward revival..  He owns a bookstore that specializes in rare books that you can visit in Wheaton, Il. or you can just go to his website, though the bookstore is more fun.  I visited him there and he warmly welcomed me into his private office where we talked over several issues.  In the process I asked what was his rarest book and he went over to a shelf and handed me a very, very old book. It was written by the private secretary of Martin Luther, too cool!

All of this walk down memory lane came about because I stumbled across a short video that has a short outtake from one of his sermons.  It is a powerful 3 minutes.
